Moss Family History: Joel Moss I, 1766 - 1847
Joel was the third son of Titus and Mary Moss. He was born in Cheshire July 7, 1766. He married Abigail Hotchkiss who was also born in Cheshire Dec. 12, 1768 and died Dec. 19, 1847.
Joel Moss applied late in the 1700's to build a dam and erect a corn-grinding mill on the Ten Mile River in West Cheshire. Later he had a fulling mill there.
They had eleven children named as follows:

- Sabrina - born Jan 12, 1793, married Levi Royce Dec. 13, 1815.
- Lloyd - born 1794, died March 13, 1876
- Abigail
- Joel - born 1797 - died 1890 (Our line)
- Titus
- Richard
- Ira

- Mary
The first-born, Albert, was Aunt May's grandfather. (She was actually my great-aunt by marriage because she married my great-uncle Ernest).
Joel Moss I died in Cheshire March 6, 1847 and his tombstone is in Saint Peter's Cemetery, Cheshire.
